You cannot come to power by burning people and property: Information Minister
Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, 'It is never possible for them to come to power by throwing petrol bombs on people, burning people, burning people's property and above all burning the Holy Quran. Because of that, there is no possibility of BNP coming to power.
He said all this in response to a question from the journalists after the inauguration of the 'Photographic exhibition on the occasion of the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman' organized by the Directorate of Information at the Secretariat on Sunday afternoon.
In response to BNP Secretary General's statement that 'if BNP does not come to power in the next elections, the country will go back 50 years, it will be destroyed', the minister said, 'BNP itself will go back 50 years if it does not come to the next elections. It will be difficult for them to support the BNP party.'
Hasan Mahmud also said, 'The whole world is appreciating the way the country has progressed in the last 14 and a half years. The Secretary General of the United Nations, the Prime Minister of India, the President of the United States, the President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, other statesmen of the world and the top newspapers of the world are also praising. Sad but true, BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul or their other leaders do not see that. It is their consciousness, political misery and pretend not to see it.'
On the question of BNP’s caretaker government demand, the Broadcasting Minister said, 'Mr. Mirza Fakhrul has love for Pakistan. He said a few days ago - Pakistan was better. They follow Pakistan. There is no caretaker government system anywhere in the world except Pakistan. My question is why they follow Pakistan. Those who love Pakistan so much can go to Pakistan if necessary. Even if Pakistan accepts them, what else?’
Hasan said, 'There are various conspiracies going on ahead of the upcoming elections. The conspiracy was in 2014 and 2018. There will be no gain in any conspiracy. The country will continue to move forward under the leadership of people's leader Sheikh Hasina, Insha'Allah.
Earlier, while inaugurating the week-long exhibition on Bangabandhu, the information minister praised the initiative of the information department. While speaking as the chief guest, he said that the attempt to erase Bangabandhu from the pages of history was not successful, but those who wanted to erase him have disappeared from the pages of history. Bangabandhu's place in the hearts of people is the source of inspiration for the liberation-seeking people of the world.
Hasan said, if Bangabandhu had lived, Bangladesh would have transformed into a developed and prosperous country within a decade and a half of independence. When Bangabandhu was killed according to the statistics of various organizations, the country produced 10 thousand metric tons of extra food that year, the GDP growth rate was 9.54 percent.
The Minister of Information and Broadcasting said, today the success of Bangabandhu's state-making and Bangabandhu's daughter's state management lies in the fact that we have left Pakistan behind in all indicators 7-8 years ago; they looked at us and sighed. The country has risen to a middle-income, food-self-sufficient country. Bangladesh today is the 31st economy in PPP and 35th in GDP. A development role model to the world.
